Transphobia is negative attitudes towards/the discrimination of transgender individuals because of their gender identity. It can also be used against GNC individuals because they do not conform to gender norms.
History[]
Transphobia has been prevalent for hundreds of years and is theorized to have many different origins. Some claim it stems from sexism, others from homophobia, others from religious groups. Some even say it has to do with brain chemistry and sexuality. No matter how it started, it has been harming transgender people since the beginning of their existence.
